Wednesday 10th July 2013 - Smiths Row A panel discussion featuring Caroline Wright, Matthew Shaul (director Departure Lounge) and Dr Philip Terry (Director of Creative Writing, University of Essex) on the relationship between the individual and location and the effects of time and memory on our perception of place. The discussion will be followed by an informal reception.

Its a Bury Knockout 2013

Sunday 14th July 2013 - Hardwick Heath Come and join us on the Heath for an action packed family fun day! Traditional fete games, fundraising stalls, water walkers, inflatable slide, bungee trampolines, lots of scrummy food including burgers and ice-cream and lots more! Watch local businesses take part in the wacky Knockout Challenge! All money raised goes towards raising £55,000 for our Men’s Health Campaign – Beat It! The £55,000 will be spent on a TRUS Biopsy and Probe, a fantastic piece of kit that helps to diagnose prostate cancer quickly and more efficiently.

Summer Walks and Talks - A Town Within a Town

Thursday 8th August 2013 - Visit Bury St Edmunds Find out about life within the Abbey and how it was viewed by the people who lived outside its fortified walls. The Abbey was once a pilgrimage centre of international importance but it ceased to exist in a relatively short time.
There is less walking on this tour than on other guided tours.
