Festive Feasts!

Christmas is almost here, we've put together a few ideas for places to go where you can tuck in to a delicious festive feast!

1. The Fox Inn

Celebrate with friends and colleagues with a festive dinner at The Fox Inn on Eastgate Street. The menu includes such mouth-watering dishes such as Chorizo bubble & squeak, Festive burger or a traditional turkey Christmas dinner followed by a Christmas pudding with brandy sauce.

On Christmas Day, tuck into a Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings; Scottish oak-smoked salmon & pan-fried scallops, a hand-carved turkey and honey-roast ham, finished with Christmas pudding with your choice of custard or a clotted cream & Drambuie sauce.

The festivities continue on Boxing Day when you can enjoy a 2 or 3 course set menu including Goat’s cheese roulade coated in walnuts, Smoked salmon, Gruyère & Prosecco tart, Trio of wild Scottish venison medallions followed by a Prosecco royale sorbet.

2. The Angel Eaterie 

Set in the heart of historic Bury St Edmunds, you can indulge in a delicious Christmas dinner at The Angel Eaterie at The Angel Hotel. The sumptuous 5-course dinner includes a pre-starter of game parfait with beetroot ketchup, rye crumpet and watercress, followed by a starter of gin cured cucumber, raddish, saffron, salmon caviar and lemon. 

For your main, choose from roast turkey with all the trimmings, halibut in a warm tartare sauce, crispy mussels and coastal sea herbs, or Sage Gnocchi with trompette, chestnuts, pecorino, sprout tops and salsify crisps.

If you've still got room, enjoy Christmas Pudding Ice Cream, followed by spiced pear and cinammon sponge with egg nog ice cream and a glass of mulled wine.

3. Casa Del Mar

For something a bit different, arrive at Casa Del Mar on Risbygate Street and you will be greeted with breads and oils and Spanish nuts. 

The Sharing Banquet then includes a seasonal meat or vegetarian platter followed by a main mezze of Andalusian Chicken, Moorish beef stew, Spanish rice, Harissa roasted root vegetables and winter slaw salad. 

To complete your feast, there's a sweet platter of chocolate orange brownie, Spanish almond cake and orange sorbet or a cheese plate of Manchego, Membrillo, salted Marcona Almonds and Savoury Biscuits.

4. Bourgee

Serving their festive menu until Friday 22nd December, Bourgee's 3 course menu starts with a choice of sticky maple and sesame beef bites, baby mozzarella balls with smoked tomato, avocado mayo and rosemary toasties or lobster and langoustine pot stickers with Kimchi. 

For your main course, tuck into Josper grill pave of beef with garlic butter, winter mushroom and Malbec risotto and lobster and langoustine pot pie with haddock, spinach and sweetcorn. 

Following on the festivities, for dessert there's handmade Christmas pudding, Mars Bar cheesecake with raspberry sauce and warm pecan pie with After Eight ice cream.

5. Maison Bleue

The perfect place for an extra special pre-Christmas meal, Maison Bleue on Churchgate Street is serving a 2 or 3 course lunch and 3 course festive dinner until the 22nd December. The mouth-watering menu boasts quail, trout, smoked haddock, beef, mussels, agnolotti, Egg "Blanc Manger", or barbecue roasted beetroot for starter.

Mains on offer include roasted fillet of Scottish cod, roasted breast of Gressingham Duck, Poached Skate, ballotine of Breckland venison, fillet of stone bass, 24 hours cooked braised veal medallions, or celeriac risotto. 

Complete your festive feast with Guanaja chocolate, caramel and almond panna cotta tartlet with cocoa ice cream, Madagascar vanilla with chestnut biscuit and ice cream with pumpkin gel; orange sphere, date and pecan nut crumble with saffron ice cream and orange coulis, roasted pineapple with brioche pain perdu with custard; apple marmalade with apple spiced bread, mascarpone and Christmas pudding ice cream or a selection or artisan cheeses.

6. The Northgate 

Celebrate Christmas with a Christmas Day feast at The Northgate. The 6-course menu includes roasted butternut squash soup, followed by poached salmon ravioli and pork belly and apple terrine. Choose from roast turkey crown with roast chestnuts and festive trimmings or fillet of bream with vanilla potatoes, sprout leaves and lemon butter for main and to finish, there's Christmas pudding creme brulee. If you've still got room tuck in to coffee and mince pies.

There's a delicious vegetarian menu on offer too, with roasted butternut squash soup followed by wild mushroom parfait and goats cheese ravioli. For main, there's truffle arancini, salt baked celeriac, red wine poached salsify sprout leaves.
