West Stow Pods Opens Storybook-Inspired Accommodation

Visitors can enjoy a brand new and unique holiday experience with the opening of Hobbit inspired Pod Hollow at West Stow Pods, just 10 minutes from Bury St Edmunds.

Pod Hollow is the newest addition to West Stow Pods' collection of Glamping accommodation and complements their four MegaPods and Woodland Lodge to create a unique holiday destination.

Nestled in the side of a grassy knoll in a private Suffolk woodland, Pod Hollow brings the magic of Middle-Earth to life. From the moment excited visitors step through Pod Hollow’s perfectly round wooden door, it will feel as though they are stepping into a storybook. The self-catering home sleeps 4 (+1) and is perfect for mid-week and weekend holidays all year round.

The new Pod Hollow aims to attract Hobbit fans

Pod Hollow has long been a twinkle in the eye of its creator, Jan Lengyel, and after a few false starts, it is now ready to welcome its first guests.

Visitors curious as to what lies behind the round door  can take a private tour of Pod Hollow on March 24, 2018 and meet famed wizard Gandalf the Grey, and maybe even have a selfie. Tickets, sold in aid of St Mary's Church, West Stow, are just £1.50 and must be booked in advance.

Founder Jan Lengyel said: “The reasons I decided to construct ‘Pod Hollow’ are numerous. I wanted to offer something very special to enhance the existing Glamping experience West Stow Pods already offers. The Pods are happily very successful but have been calling out for something a little different.

"With West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village a stone’s throw away and its connection with Tolkien, a Halfling-style construction seemed like the obvious thing to supplement both our sites.

“We are hoping to offer guided tours from Pod Hollow, through the King’s Forest and along the River Lark embankment for part of the way and on to the Anglo-Saxon Village as just one of several Middle-Earth adventures on offer. Pod Hollow will become a unique and unforgettable experience.”

Inside Pod Hollow’s subterranean chambers, guests will find two double bedrooms, a sitting room, a fully fitted kitchen/diner and a shower room. On cold winter evenings, a cosy feature fireplace will provide the perfect backdrop for recounting tales of dragons and lost treasure. Like our hairy-footed Halfling friends, we at West Stow Pods know how important comfort is, especially
being so close to nature.

For our more adventurous guests, stepping outside Pod Hollow will open up a world of possibility. From the many walking, cycling and horse riding trails that begin on our doorstep; to the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, where visitors can step back in time and experience the Old English History that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien, there are countless adventures to be had.

So gather your walking sticks and join us for the grand opening of Pod Hollow, a fantastic new holiday destination that will let you experience the “ordinary everyday magic” of Halfling life.
