What's On Festival Weekend

The Bury St Edmunds Food & Drink Festival takes place on 26th & 27th August and in addition to the fab food, there's a packed weekend of events taking place in Bury St Edmunds & Beyond!

Stephen Yallop's Night at the Musicals' plus Special Guests - 25th August

Join the Military Wives Choir and Britain's Got Talent Impressionist Stephen Yallop at The Apex at 7.30pm for an evening of well known musical theatre songs. Even if musical theatre isn't your thing, it will be by the end of the evening! So sit back, relax and enjoy a 'Night at the Musicals'.

The Vikings Come to West Stow - 25th & 26th August

Come and experience a Viking re-enactment at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village - fun for all the family.

Meet members of Jorvik Vikingr as they occupy the Village and show us their daily life and skills. Listen to their stories and sagas, enjoy craft demonstrations and maybe even have a chance to see their weapons and find out about more about Viking combat skills!

Introducing Archery  Course with Arnor Archery - 25th August

This 3 hour course is the longer and more advanced part delivered by an Archery GB instructor, based at West Stow. You can learn about the modern take down recurve bow, try out different sizes and learn how to shoot it. A mix of classroom and range activities with all equipment provided, personal tuition and plenty of shooting time.

Fabulous Fifties Party - 25th August

Join in the fun at The Athenaeum as the Fabulous Fifties Vintage Night which celebrates Fifties style and music - there will be a 1950 Buick car outside the Athenaeum to welcome you and the evening commences with a complimentary drink.  Dressing up is encouraged!

Music is courtesy of the renowned and award winning Vintage trio the 'Rockabellas' and Ipswich's seventeen piece live band 'Swing Machine'.  

Ticket price includes an American diner style meal.  Tickets are £50 each, or a Group rate of £40 each if 4 or more tickets are ordered at the same time.

Lavenham Classics - 26th August

Veteran, vintage, classic, supercars and motor cycles will be coming together in Laveham for the Lavenham Classics show! In addition to the classic motors, there will be a range of food and drink stalls including Gourmet Barbecue, Cafe Ni Ni, The Number 10 Mobile Bar and The Food Army Ice Cream Wagon.

Kentwell Hall's Tudor Hands On Recreation - 26th & 27 August

One of Kentwell Hall’s largest Tudor re-creation with over 200 costumed Tudors that allows visitors to “have a go and get hands-on”. 

If you fancy butter churning, assisting in meal preparations for the Gentry, quill writing or helping the Woodmen, Potters or work at the Chandlers making candles, this is an event that adults and children will be fully immersed in to this living history event.
