Arc Shopping Centre transforms into Magical Underwater World!

Join Arc Shopping Centre as they transform Charter Square into a magical underwater world on Saturday 22nd June between 11am - 3pm for a day of deep-sea adventures.

A 60ft life-sized, inflatable whale will wash up on Arc Shopping Centre Charters Square’s shore and invite the bravest of shoppers to climb inside its stomach to hear treasure tales told by a shipwrecked pirate of a real live mermaid with an intriguing secret!

The scintillating stories will not only entertaining but educational as children who will learn about recycling and the importance of keeping our seas clean.

Children will then sail off to the arts and crafts area where they will take part in an eco-friendly craft workshops including the opportunity to make their very own sea turtles from recycled plastic bottles they have bought along to the event.

The fun doesn’t stop there, clownfish Nemo and royal blue tang Dory will be swimming into the centre to meet families. The meet and greet sessions will take place at 40 minute intervals throughout the day - at the following times: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Don’t forget your camera so you can get a photo with the special guests.

Abbie Panks, centre manager said “Whilst a 60ft whale is not something you would expect to see in a shopping centre,  it’s a fantastic piece of entertaining street theatre with an important message.

We’ve designed this event to engage children and their families to find out more about our oceans and the importance of keeping them rubbish free. The activities also show alternative uses for plastics so that they don’t have to be just single use”
