Book a table at CASA in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 30th or Sunday 31st March and mums will receive a free cocktail with their meal! There's a fantastic selection of Tapas and Mezze dishes, or you could opt for the sharing menus which include garlic & chilli king prawns, lamb koftas with tzatziki, chorizo in red wine, patatas bravas, creamy garlic mushrooms, feta & pomegranate salad, smokey aubergine & roasted tomato salsa, halloumi with chermoula and falafel with muhammara.

The Swan at Lavenham

Treat mum to a special lunch at the 15th century Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa on Mothering Sunday. The three-course menu will be served in the hotel’s elegant AA two rosette Gallery restaurant and all mums will receive a gift to take home.

Created just for Mother’s Day by The Swan’s Head Chef, starters include broccoli and wild garlic soup, pressed Suffolk ham hock, crab with sea vegetables, wild nettle panna cotta or Asian duck tacos. A choice of succulent roasts follows including sirloin of beef, pork and leg of lamb; there are also fish and vegetarian dishes.

For mums with a sweet tooth puddings include vanilla crème brulée, white chocolate mousse, glazed lemon tart or a banoffee baked Alaska. Alternatively, there’s a platter of English cheese, all followed by coffee and petits fours. Special dietary requests can be catered if requested in advance.

Available from 12pm until 2.30pm, the Mothering Sunday lunch is priced at £39.50 per person and £20 for children under 12, including the gift for mum.

Best Western Priory Hotel

Book a table at the new Garden restaurant at The Priory Hotel in Bury St Edmunds this Mother's Day and enjoy a 3-course meal. Chef Tom Theobold has created a delicious meal specially for the day, costing 1 course for £10.95, 2 courses for £14.95 and 3 courses for £18.95. The Bear Inn, Beyton

Nestled in the pretty Suffolk village of Beyton, you will find The Bear Inn; a country pub serving great food and a range of ales and local beers. 

Enjoy a 2 or 3 course Mother's Day menu which includes cream of vegetable soup, pork satays, walnut apple and beetroot salad and prawn, avocado and smoked salmon to start. For mains, choose from roast sirloin of Suffolk beef with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings & seasonal vegetables; roast loin of pork with homemade stuffing and apple sauce; mushroom, lentil, butternut squash and spinach vegetarian roast; 'Bear Burger'; griddled halloumi burger; griddled fillet of seabass and lemon & ginger marinated chicken.

The Bushel, Bury St Edmunds

The Bushel started life in the 15th century as a coaching inn, it's now of brewery Greene King's many eateries within the town, serving a delicious range of meals made from local produce and a selection of the brewery's ales. 

This Mother's Day, there's a special menu on offer with menu options to suit the whole family including roast beef, roast lamb rump, roast pork or vegetarian roast, all served with seasonal vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, mash and gravy. There's also a children's roast of roast chicken, beef or pork.

Alternatively, you could opt for something from the main menu, with mains choices including prime beef and egg burger, cheese & onion beef burger, fish & chips, steak & ale pie, chicken & woodland mushroom pie, heritage tomato & mozarella salad and seafood grill.

Mother's Day Screenings at Abbeygate Cinema

This Mothering Sunday, the historic Abbeygate Cinema is putting on special screenings of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at 12.40pm and the smash-hit musical Mamma Mia at 3pm.

As an extra treat, why not book a table in the cinema's No.4 Restaurant. The lunch menu includes a selection of sandwiches such as Suffolk sausage, portobello mushroom, halloumi and friend onion and BLT.

Opening for the season on Mother's Day, 31st March, Kentwell Hall, Long Melford, is a magnificent Tudor house that is full of character, individuality and a stunning exterior for you to discover.

You can relax in the peacefulness and tranquility of this great house and enjoy the beautiful gardens that are full of colour from the spring flowers, cherry, almond and fruit blossoms.

Whist the younger family members will enjoy the newborn lambs, watch the young piglets and have the opportunity to groom the Miniature Shetland Ponies - Saffron and Sylvie. They can follow the Story Book Adventure Trail and enjoy the outdoor games and obstacle course.

Ladies of the Town Walking Tour

Join the Bury St Edmunds Tour Guides on Mother's Day for an informative and entertaining voyage of discovery highlighting Bury St Edmunds women of local and national fame, spanning politics, religion and the arts. 

The tour lasts 90 minutes, starting at 10.30am at the War Memorial on Angel Hill, afterwards, book a table at one of the many eateries in the town, take a look at our restaurant guide here.

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds 

Coming to the Theatre Royal on Mother's Day, Belle Voci, will be bringing opera and classical crossover to Bury St Edmunds.

Real Middle Earth Tour at West Stow Anglo Saxon Village

For mums who are fans of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings or simply film buffs, then the Real Middle Earth Tour at West Stow Anglo Saxon Village is the ideal present for Mother's Day!

The Anglo-Saxon origins of The Lord of the Rings story are explored in this guided tour. Find out about the links between Tolkien and the Anglo-Saxon world on a guided tour from a member of the Tolkien Society and a Middle Earth enthusiast. 

The Anglo-Saxon Village was also a set used in ‘Born of Hope’ a fan film which prequels The lord of the Rings. The tour, which lasts a little over an hour, concludes with a ‘riddle battle’ like that in The Hobbit.

Field of Dreams Farm

Have fun making Mum an amazing card and plant up an extra special arrangement using the beautiful plants that have recently been sown at the Field of Dreams Farm on Saturday 30th March. 

Children will love decorating their terracotta plant pot with hand prints, foot prints or the fabulous selection of crafts provided. Finish with gift wrap, all ready for Mum the following morning! 

There are refreshments and cake provided, and there's an option to feed the farm's animals, weather permitting.

This is an indoor activity so no special clothing is required though given the time of year it may be chilly, especially if you choose to meet the animals.
