The Northgate

The festive season is The Northgate's favourite time of year. If you're looking for a boutique hotel getaway in historic Bury St Edmunds then look no further. Alternatively if you want to see in the New Year with a delicious dinner, then book a table and enjoy the mouth-watering menu on offer.

The Weeping Willow

Located in the quiet village of Barrow outside Bury St Edmunds, the beautiful Weeping Willow pub at Barrow is the perfect setting for a relaxed New Year's eve celebration. 

This New Year's Eve they are offering all of the Willow favourites with their A la Carte menu, plus a New Year's Eve treat or two. The festive menu includes starters of celeriac and Bramley apple soup; duck breast and torched mackerel, with mains to choose from including turkey ballotine; salmon with charred leaks and saffron creamed potatoes or sweet potato wellington with braised lentils and wild mushrooms. Leave room for a pudding though, as there's eggnog brulee; Christmas pudding and chocolate pudding with pistachio ice cream. Finish your meal with tea, coffee and mince pies.

All Saints Hotel

Enjoy New Year' Eve in one of Suffolk's most luxurious hotels, the All Saints Hotel. The sumptuous 8-course tasting menu starts with an amuse-bouche and bubbles, followed by 'The View' sourdough and beef dripping. Then there's beef brisket or butternut squash volute and cured chalk steam trout or salt baked beetroot. For your main course, choose from Sutton Hoo chicken or plant to plate cauliflower; finished with Suffolk apple and cider toffee parkin and chocolates with cherries.

The Swan at Lavenham 

For the first time, the 15th century Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa is welcoming non-residents to enjoy a gala, six course feast in its fine dining Gallery restaurant on New Year’s Eve. With its roaring log fires and ancient oak beams, the historic hotel is an ideal setting to celebrate the arrival of 2021.  

Dress to impress and take your seat in the elegant, beamed restaurant at 6.30pm. Enjoy a cocktail of your choice as the jazz pianist entertains you from the Minstrel’s Gallery, set high amongst the vaulted beams.  

Start your meal with a cocktail, followed by crab with potato tart; sour dough with truffle butter; duck terrine with parfait, plum jam; scallops with cauliflower, curry and fillet of beef with ragout, parmesan and carrot. To finish, there's a delicious vanilla cream with rose wine jelly and raspberries and chocolate real ale ice cream with crackling.

Ravenwood Hall

The year 2020 has been a whirlwind so its time to say good riddance and welcome in 2021 in style!

With the 10pm curfew in place, New Year’s Eve will not feature 12 chimes but at Ravenwood Hall, they don’t need midnight to welcome in 2021. The team at Ravenwood will be ‘Turning Back the Clock’ to bring you New Year Celebrations including an exquisite dinner, drinks and fireworks at 9pm.  

To start there's Ravenwood cured beef bresaola, shaved pecorino romano,  sundried tomato, rocket, lemon dressing; followed by a fish course of grilled rainbow trout fillet or potato & chive rosti, courgette spaghetti, lime & vodka beurre blanc sauce.

Your main course includes tournedos rossini, prime British fillet steak, duck liver parfait, beef dripping croute, spinach, fine bean & pancetta roll, Rioja jus. And dessert is clementine & Grand Marnier trifle with clementine & Grand Marnier jelly, lady finger biscuits, crème patisserie, mascarpone Chantilly cream, marinated clementine and a sugar glass tuille.

To finish, there's coffee & rocky road fudge and a cheese table of artisanal handmade cheeses with truffle honey, quince jelly and red onion marmalade.

The Great House

Ring in the New Year at The Great House in Lavenham and enjoy an exquisite dinner with optional wine pairing. The &-course dinner commences with an amuse bouche of Colchester rock oysters followed by starters of duck foie gras and smoked eel pannacotta. 

The fish course is steamed turbot fillet, followed by a meat course of venison saddle with black truffle and venison stuffing. A cheese course of crispy, filo pastry and cannelloni Roquefort Chantilly can be enjoyed before two dessert courses including quince dim-sum and light “biscuit de Savoie”.

New Year's Day Brunch at Priory Hotel

If you prefer to celebrate New Year's Day, then head to The Priory Hotel where you can enjoy a delicious brunch served between 9am - 11am.

Priced at £15.95 per person, tuck into your choice of scrambled egg and smoked salmon; eggs of your choice, bacon,  sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and hash brown; eggs of your choice, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash brown and vegetarian sausages; poached eggs, avocado and grilled tomatoes or pancakes served with a choice of two toppings; including fresh berries, yogurt, banana, chocolate sauce, honey, bacon or treacle - all served with filter coffee and tea. 

For something a little lighter, opt for teacake or warm toasted crumpets both served with butter and a choice of jam plus filter coffee and tea (£5.95) or a bacon or sausage sandwich with filter coffee or tea (£6.95).

New Year's Day at The Great House

Say goodbye to 2020 and celebrate the arrival of 2021 with a delicious brunch at The Great House in Lavenham. 

Served from 10.30am - 1pm, start your day with a complimentary glass of champagne and enjoy hot drinks, croissant, orange or grapefruit juice, toast with butter and jam. For your first course, choose from oeuf florentine; fried egg; or eggs Benedict, followed by croque monsieur or roast beef. The third, fish course includes salmon en Bellevue or crab & avocado salad.

Be sure to leave room for a dessert, as there's tarte au citron meringue; tarte tatin; tropezienne; moelleaux chocolat or fresh fruit salad to choose from.

All Saints Hotel's stylish restaurant, The View, boasts breathtaking views of the award-winning golf course - the perfect setting for a New Year's Day celebration. 

The bottomless brunch includes two courses with 90 minutes of Prosecco.
