Come and Sing Fauré’s Requiem

The musicians at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, continue to offer a variety of music for all tastes.

This Friday, 12 June, at 5.00 pm, singers of all voices are invited to join a ‘Come and Sing’ version of Fauré’s Requiem via social media.

The organ accompaniment and soloists have been pre-recorded and these will provide backing and support via the St Edmundsbury Cathedral’s YouTube channel, whilst singers join in at home.

‘A similar venture on Good Friday was hugely successful with over 1400 singers joining in a virtual version of Stainer’s Crucifixion,’ comments Acting Director of Music, Richard Cook. ‘Music lifts the spirits and we are pleased to be able to engage creatively with people in this way.’

Anyone interested in finding out more please contact Richard Cook on adom@stedscathedral.org or see the Cathedral’s website: https://stedscathedral.org/events/faures-requiem-come-and-sing

In addition the Friday lunchtime recital series has begun online. This is an annual series of recitals with a wealth of musicians and styles of music each Friday at 1 pm.  These are posted online via the Cathedral’s Facebook page and available to watch again https://stedscathedral.org/events/lunchtime-recitals
