Your chance to sing one of the great oratorios from the comfort of your own living room!
On Good Friday, at 5pm, singers of all voices are invited to join a ‘Come and Sing’ version of Stainer’s Crucifixion via social media. This venture has been organised by the Music department at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds.
The organ accompaniment and soloists have been pre-recorded appropriately, due to the current restrictions. These will provide backing and support via the Cathedral’s YouTube channel, whilst singers join in at home.
‘On this most sacred day, we want to give musicians every opportunity to continue to make music as they would usually do,’ comments Acting Director of Music, Richard Cook. ‘By the use of current technologies we hope to introduce new audiences to the fine repertoire of music available for this season.’
