The Best of Chefs

Two of Suffolk’s top chefs are joining up to offer a one-off tasting menu for one night only.

Head Chef at the Northgate, Greig Young is delighted to be welcoming into his kitchen Chris Lee, owner and Head Chef of The Bildeston Crown which has recently again retained its 3 AA rosettes and is named in Suffolk’s top three restaurants in the Good Food Guide 2020.

The special meal is part of the Guest Chef Series being held at the Northgate in 2020.  A 5-course tasting menu is being prepared by this duo of chefs who have both previously worked at The Northgate’s sister property The Packhorse Inn in Moulton. 


Greig Young stated: `I am very excited to be welcoming Chris into the kitchen and working with him to create a special menu for our guests. I am sure we will devise something surprising and using the best of local seasonal Suffolk produce. We have chosen guest chefs that share our love for our region, local produce and with a flair for fun and creativity – Chris certainly fits this bill.’

Chris Lee is equally excited: `This will be a fun night and I know working with Greig we will create a thoroughly unique and tasty menu – I am really looking forward to it and I think collaborating with the best of local chefs in Suffolk is going to be a real treat for all the guests’

The Northgate was acquired by The Chestnut Group in 2015. It is located in a traditional Victorian townhouse, which has been the home of families and their friends for generations.  

Average Lunch/Dinner for three courses including a glass of wine: From £46 or Monday to Saturday – Taste of Anglia Menu starts at £45 per person. Set Lunch for two courses £16 or three course £19.
