World Earth Day Competition

Does your child love to draw? Then arc shopping centre has the perfect competition for you!

The Arc Shopping Centre in Bury St Edmunds is inviting all children aged 13 and under to participate in their “Design a Reusable Bag” competition to celebrate World Earth Day.

The winning artwork will be printed on reusable canvas bags that will be distributed to the first 1,000 shoppers on World Earth Day, Wednesday 22nd April.  Our winner and their family will also be presented with a bag each!

The aim is to encourage shoppers to re-use these bags whenever they come shopping in Bury St Edmunds in a bid to help reduce plastic bag waste.  In the UK, 7.7 billion plastic bags are purchased each year – that’s over 20 million a day.

Arc shopping centre is really good at recycling waste in the centre, recycling cardboard, plastics, glass and food waste, and zero waste from the centre goes to landfill. On average, less than half of the plastic bags purchased in the UK get recycled. The rest are burned, sent to landfill or end up in our ecosystems. This contributes to the eight million tonnes of plastic which enter our oceans each year.

By giving shoppers a reusable bag it is one less plastic bag that is being purchased.

The competition is NOW open and it’s time for you to enter, it’s simple;

1. Draw a picture of what World Earth Day means to you.

2. Post/hand in your drawing to our Centre Management suite at arc shopping centre or email your entry to ellie.pimbley@toolboxmarketing.com before Wednesday 8th April 2020.

3. The winner will be announced on Thursday 9th April 2020 and their drawing will be printed on 1,000 canvas bags.
