A giant 7ft 6ins monk statues has appeared in The Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds over St Edmunds Day Weekend to celebrate St Edmund’s Day (November 20) and the relaunch of the Abbey 1000 celebrations in 2022! The monk will be in the Abbey Gardens within the crypt area of the ruins (November 19-21) for people so that people can take their photograph with the steel statue.

This is your first and only chance to see the monk up close this year as he will not be coming out again until May 2022 when he will be the first statue on display as part of a monthly rotating artwork display for the celebration of 1000 years since the founding of the Abbey!
