Flower Exhibition reflects 1000 years of Abbey

St Edmundsbury Cathedral will be home to a flower exhibition this summer, celebrating 1000 years of the Abbey at Bury St Edmunds in floral form.

This beautiful exhibition will reflect the ten centuries, from 1020 when the Abbey was founded, to now, in fabulous flowers and plant material showcased in the Cathedral. Entrance is free, although donations would be very welcome, and money raised will go towards the Youth Work of the Cathedral and Kagera. The Diocese of Kagera in Tanzania has been linked with that of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich since 1994.

Visitors will be welcome 10.00 am - 5.30 pm Wednesday to Friday and 12.30 pm - 3.00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Suffolk Day will also be depicted in a display as we celebrate this special day the same week.

The lead designer is florist Vicki Hease from Great Finborough, assisted by Sue Cockram, head of the Cathedral Flower Team. Vicki has organised 10 teams of flower arrangers from flower clubs in the East of England:
