No visit to Bury St Edmunds is complete without a visit to The Nutshell pub. With a bar that measures just 15ft by 7ft, The Nutshell proudly holds the title of smallest pub in Britain as confirmed in the Guinness Book of Records and first started serving beer in 1867.

Local Foodie Delights

Bury St Edmunds’ markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the Buttermarket and Cornhill area and the town's monthly farmers markets are a fantastic opportunity to sample the county’s marvellous local produce and food stalls.

There are also independent shops selling local produce including beer and spirits brewed in and around Bury St Edmunds and you can even have a go at making your own gin.

At ICE Cook School in nearby Rougham you can learn from top chefs. With its state of the art Cook School hosting cookery classes of groups up to six as well as to welcome and serve guests at their famous Lunch Bar and Seasons dining experiences.
