Meet the Inhabitants – the Great Churchyard

Step Back in Time: Meet the Inhabitants – People Buried in the Great Churchyard, Bury St Edmunds

About this event

Step Back in Time is a series of lectures by Dr Pat Murrell in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care.

In this lecture, Dr Murrell reflects on the lives, graves and memorials of some of those buried in this often under-appreciated area of the town.

Join her as she uncovers the last resting place of some of Bury’s prominent Georgians who led eventful lives, impacting on the town’s history.

No ‘St Edmund’, but certainly a Kendall, an Orridge, a Rackham, a Sarah Lloyd and a few Warrens will be encountered.

There will be an opportunity to book a walkabout of the area for those attending who wish to stretch their legs at a later date (there will be an additional charge for this).

This event takes place on Thursday, 30 June at 8pm (doors open at 7.30pm), at the United Reformed Church, Whiting Street, Bury St Edmunds.

Tickets £10 (previous events have sold out, advance booking is essential).

Tickets can be bought online by clicking the button below, or from our St John’s Street shop in Bury St Edmunds town centre.

Thank you to Dr Murrell for your continued support of St Nic’s.
