With more than 300 traders already booked, the fayre once again promises an enticing mix of local and global produce and crafts. As with last year, the fayre fun begins from 2pm on the Thursday.

The opening events will include a lantern parade in the Abbey Gardens, late night shopping and a dazzling firework finale from 7.45pm, while there is free parking from 4pm.

The fayre continues from 9am on Friday 24th November with a weekly street market, as well as street entertainment and special offers along the independent shopping street of Johns Street.

New for 2017, there will be a cookery demonstration kitchen in the Cathedral Courtyard with local and regional chefs preparing scrumptious recipes through the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will also be 14 stalls in the courtyard selling a tantalising mix of delicious foods.

In the Traverse, businesses will offer the chance for children to meet a variety of small animals and take part in fun activities. In the Abbey Gardens meanwhile there will be a chance for the little ones to visit Santa in his grotto, while from Friday afternoon, and all day Saturday and Sunday, his reindeer will also be there for you to meet.

There will be plenty of music and entertainment to add to the festive atmosphere with church choirs, school bands and rock, jazz, and folk acts all set to perform. The weekend will finish with a traditional carol concert on Angel Hill with music provided by the Salvation Army band.
