Mary Beale: A Documented Life
Start Date: 29 January 2022
Start Time: 7pm (Doors 6.30pm)
End Date: 29 January 2022

Moyse's Hall Museum, Bury St Edmunds

As the 'Observations: Mary Beale Collection' exhibition draws to a close, we end our season’s talks with one last lecture.

An evening with the Tate Museum’s Curator of British Art 1500-1750, Tabitha Barber, the last person to curate a Mary Beale Exhibition.

Mary Beale was one of England's earliest professional women artists, but she is also one of the best documented. This talk will examine the wealth of primary sources that survive that offer direct access to what she did, what she painted and even what she and her friends thought. They illuminate her world in a way that is lacking for other artists of the time.

Starts: 7pm (doors open 6.30pm)

Tickets: £10 per person

Booking: Essential at the website above or call 01284 758000.
