Bury Theatre Workshop, a Community Theatre Company, are performing William Shakespeare’s 'Twelfth Night'.

An annual open air Shakespeare 'Picnic in the Park' event in the Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds.

Shipwrecked off the coast of Illyria twins Viola and Sebastian have been separated and believe each other dead. Disguises, intrigue, and romantic entanglements ensue as Viola, disguised as a boy falls for her new master, Orsino, whilst his love Olivia falls for Cesario (aka Viola) and servant Malvolio also hankers after his mistress Olivia. Enter Sebastian who also falls for Olivia who returns his love believing Cesario and Sebastian to be one and the same. Confusing? Well... it'll all turn out alright in the end, we hope! And what is Malvolio Wearing?!

Bring a picnic and a chair

Socially distanced designated picnic plots will be set up

Refreshments tent on site

All children under 12 years to be accompanied by an adult

There is no parking in the Abbey Gardens but there are car parks nearby

Wear suitable clothing as this is an outdoor event

Special discount only for adults and children on Tuesday 20 July (first night performance) of £5.

Running Tuesday 20 July to Saturday 24 July 2021.

Times: 7pm each evening (gates open at 6pm for picnics) plus a matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday 24 July only

Tickets: £10, U21s £5, U12s free

Booking: Tickets available from 12 April - visit the Bury Theatre Workshop website or call 01359 259361. Tickets available on the door (subject to availability - it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment due to limited numbers of socially distanced spaced picnic areas)
